Create A Healthy Plate

A healthy plate is a way to control the amount of your daily intake, where you don't have to count. This healthy eating plan works for everybody, including middle-aged and older people. Start with dividing your plate in half and fill one of them with different types of vegetables, like potatoes, corn, peas, cucumbers, or carrots. Vegetables are high in fiber, rich in nutrients, and low in calories. This means fewer calories without feeling hungry. Then, fill one quarter with whole grains like brown rice, millet, oats,  or beans. In the other quarter, have some lean protein. Try to avoid protein from processed meats like bacon, sausage, and hotdogs. Instead, choose plant-based proteins or healthy animal proteins like fish, organic beef, chicken, and eggs that are high in omega-three fatty acids. Remember, stay away from the trigger foods that make you eat more like sugar, sweetened drinks, sweets, bread, baked goods, refined carbs of any kind,  and even artificial sweeteners.

Drink Plenty Of Water

For a long time, drinking water has been known to help losing weight. Water can boost your metabolism, help suppress appetite, rinses out unwanted toxins from your body, and keeps your brain sharp. Drinking a lot of water also helps your body stop retaining water contributing to losing extra pounds of water weight. Many dieticians and doctors recommend drinking water half an hour before each meal as it contributes to weight loss, especially middle-aged people. A recent study showed that middle-aged overweight participants who drink water before each meal lost 44% more weight than the other group that didn't drink more water.

Exercise Daily

Exercise is a  key factor in losing weight. A recent study found that nearly 90% of individuals who successfully lose weight and keep it off exercise daily. Therefore,  ensure getting at least 30 minutes of exercise. Choose activities that you really enjoy. An exciting way to lose weight quickly and meet daily physical activity requirements is by joining an athletic team like basketball, tennis, track, and other organized activities. They will help in burning calories and losing weight quickly without getting bored.

Stress Less, Sleep More

Counting calories, eating healthy, and exercising are not the only things that you consider in weight loss. Your weight is also hormonally regulated. Stress and lack of sleep affect the body hormones, which cause weight gain. When you're stressed out,  your body releases very high amounts of cortisol, which play a crucial role in weight gain as it boosts visceral fat, the dangerous kind of fat that surrounds your organs. Persistent stress can also cause sleeplessness, and all its weight gain consequences. Sleeplessness increases the ghrelin hormone levels in your body, which makes you crave sugar and carbs, paving the way for more obesity and type two diabetes. One study in the journal SLEEP showed that people who don't get enough sleep eat impulsively and gain a considerable amount of weight over time. Therefore, get at least seven hours of sleep every day to have fewer cravings and normalize those fat regulating hormones.
